Linkblogging & the Bookmarklet

You can run a linkblog in Fargo with a little configuration, using a bookmarklet, which we supply below. Here's how to get started.

Set up

  1. You must designate an outline as the one to receive your links, and the outline must be open.

  2. In the System menu (in the right corner of the Fargo menubar) choose the Settings command.

  3. Click on the Links panel.

  4. Enter the name of the outline file you want to use. Screen shot.

  5. Install the bookmarklet by dragging the word Bookmarklet below into the chrome of your browser.

You can change the title

You may want to change the title of the bookmarklet. In most browsers you do that by right-clicking on its name in the chrome of the browser.

Here's what the menu looks like in Apple's Safari browser.

Adding a link

  1. Be sure Fargo is open and the outline you've designated to receive links is open.

  2. Visit a page you want to add to your linkblog. Click the bookmarklet you installed above.

  3. Click on the Fargo tab. You should see the title of the page in the calendar structure in the designated outline. It will be of type idea, that's compatible with the new stream template.
